The goal is to overcome adversity, to be no longer disabled, but super abled. The bionic arm was created by researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology and uses an ultrasound sensor and deep learning algorithms designed for finger-by-finger operation. It provides fine motor hand gestures that are necessary for playing instruments.

The Artist of the Beautiful by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a short story about an artist’s struggle to create something beautiful that imitates nature and has spiritual significance. This book design relates to the artist, Owen’s, struggle of functionality versus art and beauty. The book’s simple and straight forward layout is purely functional, but at the end prompts the reader to transform the pages of the book into something beautiful, displaying a set of origami instructions. The reader then tears the perforated pages out and folds them into origami butterflies, creating beauty but leaving the book no longer functional.
This book cover design brings fresh energy to the well-known story of Jack and Jill by taking the story to Peru. The exaggerated hills let the child’s imagination lead the character around the page and bright engaging colors are taken from traditional Peruvian clothing. The character silhouettes have enough definition to be intriguing and grab attention to open the book and reveal the story.

This poster is to explain at least three different meanings of a randomly assigned word, grade. The three different forms are: calculated slope grade, a grade given to an assignment, and a quality grade given to meat. I created the packaging, set the composition, and photographed it to reach the believable scenario that catches its viewers off guard and draws them in to further investigate. Symbolism, such as the red pen and U.S.D.A. sticker are other common associations with the word that direct the viewer's understanding.

The image is an interpretation of a particular piece of music, Mars, Bringer of War, in a 2-D form using only shape, form, line, and typographic forms, then used in a poster promoting a concert of the piece. The image begins with lines in a structured grid that mimic a march, which then swell up in a mighty crescendo to capture the dynamics of the piece. This movement leads the viewer to the title of the event and down through the information. The orange color is just barely visible against the black, but becomes lighter to enhance the crescendo, also relating to the color of Mars.

This poster is for a philosophy conference based on the theme of beauty. The collage speaks on society's views and demands on beauty as well as relates beauty back to its most raw forms found in nature. While the poster is dynamic and somewhat bizarre, it still remains professional and academic through the use of typography.
